As you begin the summer with your families, we’d like to highlight a potential activity for you to do as a family: reading aloud. In this age of screens and constant entertainment, this may seem a bit antiquated … but we are a classical school after all. Not only that, we believe reading aloud can be a beloved and valuable venture for your entire family. And the research supports that very notion.
We’ve highlighted a couple articles about the subject:
The Benefits of Reading Out Loud to Your Kids, by Jeremy Anderberg (The Art of Manliness)
The Importance of Reading Aloud to Big Kids, by Melissa Taylor
If you need some ideas on what to read, check out the summer list supplied by your child’s teacher.
Happy reading!
