The Admissions Process at Redeemer

Thank you for your interest in Redeemer Classical School. Our Admissions Process is designed to help you make the best educational choice for your family. But we think you’ll find we offer a unique curriculum and community unlike any other in the Shenandoah Valley. And the best way to experience this education — the energy and enthusiasm of our classrooms — is to visit Redeemer in person. You can come to an Open House, schedule a tour/class visit, or attend a school event to see classical Christian education in action. If you like what you see, we invite you to apply to Redeemer.

Below you’ll find the elements you’ll work through during the Admissions Process. If you have any questions along the way, please contact our Dean of Academics, Teresa Patton.

DATES & DEADLINES

We will begin accepting applications on October 14, 2024 for the 2025-2026 school year. For siblings of current students, please complete your application by January 6th in order to receive priority admission notification. For new families, we suggest you complete your application packet with all supporting documents by the end of February.

NOTE: Pre-school students must be 4 years old by September 1 and be completely potty trained. Kindergarten children must be 5 years old by September 1.

APPLICATION

Start the process by submitting your application and non-refundable $100 application fee.  Applications will open on October 14, 2024.

ASSESSMENTS & RECORDS

A review of your student’s file from their previous school and an assessment is part of the application process (records are not required for students applying to PK or K). A signed records release will be required to request transcripts from your current school.

On the grammar school level, your child will be assessed by the classroom teacher in the areas of math, reading, writing and Latin. This test should not take more than an hour. For logic and rhetoric school students, we will administer a third party test at Redeemer to evaluate your student in math, reading, writing and Latin.

SHADOW DAY

For applicants for 7th-12th grade, we ask that you schedule a full-day visit to the school after you’ve submitted your online application. You’ll spend the day with your current class to get an idea of what a typical day at Redeemer entails.

PK-6th grade students are not required to attend a shadow day, but they have that option available.

STUDENT INTERVIEW

If your application is for a new logic or rhetoric school student (grades 7-12), please call (540.437.0880) or email the office to arrange an interview for your student with the Upper School Principal. (This interview can take place when they come for a Shadow Day.)

PARENT INTERVIEW

The final step in our application process is for prospective parents to meet with the Head of School and the appropriate Principal. This time will give us the chance to learn more about your family and for you to ask us questions. We’ll contact you to schedule this appointment after your application packet is completed. Prospective parents should carefully read and understand the Redeemer Classical School Mission and Statement of Faith as they prepare for this interview.

ENROLLMENT CONTRACT & DEPOSIT

Your enrollment will be complete when we have received your signed contract along with the non-refundable enrollment deposit ($250).

TUITION ASSISTANCE

You can also apply for tuition assistance for your full-time student after you’ve filled out your admissions application. Simply follow the link in the online application portal and pay the $40 tuition assistance application fee. Tuition assistance will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. (Half day students are not eligible for tuition assistance.)
