What better way to break up winter than with some baking? In order to sweeten up the Fine Arts Evening, Redeemer staged a school-wide baking contest: the inaugural Great Redeemer Bake Off. The contest included two separate categories for judging: PreK -4th grade and 5th-8th. To enter the contest, students in the younger division were required to bake (or help bake) three dozen cookies. Older students could try their hand at more complicated desserts such as cake, pie, or cookies, but they had to do so without any assistance. All the baking had to be from scratch and the recipes submitted along with the treats.
Five judges for each category evaluated the entries based on originality, taste, appearance and complexity. Redeemer students submitted 13 delicious entries in each category and the following bakers came away with a prize:
