JMU Youth Art Exhibit

In support of the youth art programs in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham area, James Madison University invites local art teachers to submit outstanding student artwork to be displayed in JMU’s Memorial Hall. This year Redeemer was among the invitees, so they contacted Laura Carpenter to submit pieces for the exhibit. Mrs. Carpenter enlisted the help of two fellow artists to choose the submissions “because it was an impossible decision for me to narrow it down, as I love all my students’ work.”

The judges did not see any names, making the selection a truly blind process. In a sense, this really was a juried show for Redeemer students.

JMU recognized the following individuals at a program on February 23, 2020:

Hannah Houff
Aubrie Michael
Walker Lee
Amelia Velker
Westyn Lee
Naomi Lookabill
Alexander Bucher
Lillian Carpenter
Madison Pascarella
Emme Ritchie
Elijah Lorson
Silas King
Alina Plonsky
Libby Kidd

You can see their artwork on display in the hallways of Memorial Hall (the old Harrisonburg High School) throughout the year.
